Teen Weight Loss

Teen weight loss is all about achieving a healthy and happier state. As teenagers your son or daughters body is still continuing to grow
and develop so weight loss supplements and diet aids are probably not going to be recommended. Instead, for teenagers the battle
with weight loss often starts with gaining self esteem and learning how to become more socially outgoing.

Teen weight loss often depends on the teen being open and communicating their needs with their parents. Some parents turn a blind
eye to emotional problems or weight issues that their child might have. Many young women may eat as a way to escape emotional pain
and handle crisis in their lives that they are unable to deal with.

You may still be thinking that diets are the easiest way to get rid of pounds fast but remember that for teens, weight loss is complicated
by the fact that their bodies are still growing and developing. Trying different supplements and pills could cause unforeseen reactions
with hormones and development. The first step in losing weight for teenagers should be education about proper nutrition.

Don’t assume that your teen is aware of what makes a balanced meal. Over 15 percent of teenagers are either overweight or obese.
Many of these teenagers are lulled into eating and consuming unsafe foods marketed directly towards them. Products such as potato
chips, cookies, sodas and even fast food work hard to create a cool hip impression. - even going so far as to pay for endorsements
from celebrities. Sure these unhealthy eating habits can be erased but hard work on the part of the teen and his parents are going to
be needed.

Offer education on teen weight loss through the use of the food pyramid. You may consider use of a weight loss camp or a nutritionist
to help your teen overcome unhealthy eating habits. Weight loss camps are typically only offered during the summer. Also, offer
guidance with finding healthy food items in the school cafeteria or pack them a bag lunch. In addition to proper nutrition, you have to
get your teen from in front of the TV and computer! Teenagers spend most of their time sitting in classes at school. At home they do
the same thing while in front of the TV or while talking to their friends over the internet.

Encourage your teen to take walks as much as possible. If they live in a safe neighborhood, can they walk to school? Offer
encouragement for teen weight loss by getting your team to participate in a sport at school. Discuss with them what activities that they
enjoy and turn these into fun ways of getting moving and getting the exercise that they need.

As the parent, remember to offer praise and encouragement. Never belittle them or make them feel bad about their weight. Being a
teenager is hard enough without facing criticism from those who are supposed to offer love unconditionally. These ideas are by no
means all there is to helping your teen weight loss, but they are a starting point for safe effective teen weight loss.
